Anatomy of the Type 2 Plug

IEC 62196-2 Technical Baseline

The Type 2 connector (often referred to as Mennekes) is the predominant AC charging standard across Europe and broad international markets. Unlike the single-phase limitations of Type 1 (SAE J1772), Type 2 supports native three-phase alternating current, facilitating significantly higher power delivery limits without resorting to DC conversion off-board.
