The CHAdeMO Handshake Protocol
DC Level 3 Architecture & Communications
Unlike AC charging where the vehicle's onboard converter handles rectification, DC fast charging delivers high-voltage direct current directly to the traction battery. This requires robust digital communication to orchestrate voltage matching and current limits in real-time. The CHAdeMO protocol operates using the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus, whereas CCS utilizes Power Line Communication (PLC) over the Control Pilot pin.
